My post this week is for the Class of 2015. First and foremost CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Be proud of yourselves and relish this moment in time – it is a major milestone – the first of many. Though I am addressing the class of 2015 these words can be of benefit to all.
I am sure that in your years of study you have learned a little something about the Declaration of Independence and the well-known phrase that comes from it……”Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”. I ask you today, as you declare your independence, to heed these words and use them as a guide for your life.
Life. Live your life to the fullest, it is a gift and has great purpose. In your life be true to self, be open to learning, be humble and always be grateful. These are the things that guarantee a fulfilling journey and a truly successful life.
Liberty. Know what true freedom is and understand that the most important freedom is that of choice. The choices we make create the roadmap for our life journey. Make your choices, be accountable for them and look for the lessons in their outcomes.
The pursuit of Happiness. Some believe that life’s ultimate goal is to find happiness; I believe that we should live in our happiness, not spend a lifetime seeking it. I believe that it is a state of being, not a goal to achieve. Find something each day that makes you happy – sunshine, the quote of the day, a smile, wildflowers, family – it is the daily pursuit. You will find that you become grateful for the small things and in gratitude we know happiness.
I wish you success in all of your future endeavors. Go forth and make the world a better place! And remember…….
Always do you,
