Let’s talk about feeling loved. Do you feel a lack of love from your family? Do you wish you had someone to talk to that could understand who you are?
I recently heard this from a young girl. I asked her why she was feeling this way and she said, because no one understands who I am. She said that her family is there for her and she has friends that care about her, but she doesn’t feel loved. I told her I understood, because being loved and feeling loved are two different things. Although, your family and friends can be there for you, if inside you don’t feel that they are, then you will not feel loved.
After talking with her for awhile, she finally told me that her father wasn’t in her life. She explained, there was a feeling of loneliness that left her empty inside. I explained to her that many girls go through the same thing when a mother or father may not be in their lives. I told her that she has to be able to allow the love she is being given to touch her heart. She can’t keep a wall around her heart and not let others in. If she does, this will keep her feeling this way. I also talked to her about making sure she doesn’t look for love in the wrong places with the wrong people. I told her to stay focused on being able to receive the love she is given.
If you are feeling this way, please talk to someone. Go to someone you trust and express how you are feeling. This can be your mother, father, sister, brother, close friend, family member or a school counselor.
Remember…….....an open heart can always feel and receive love. A closed heart cannot.
If you are feeling this way or know someone who is, please write me back.
