Here we are together again. I hope you all enjoyed Skyy’s post last week about choosing happiness as much as I did. She was actually part of the inspiration for my post this week. The word CHOICE is a powerful one. It is the choices we make that define who we become and how we live our lives.
Now choices are not always as easy as picking out what to wear today, or what flavor of ice cream you want. Some choices are hard – like finding out that your friend is doing something wrong and deciding to tell an adult. You don’t want to get your friend in trouble, and you don’t want them to be mad at you, but at the same time you want to help them. For some there is only one choice and that is to help your friend.
This choice gives your friend the opportunity to right a wrong and make better choices. It also gives you
the feeling of having given something to someone else and knowing you did the right thing.
Your choices in life can take you far, expand your mind, fill your heart or do the complete opposite.
When making choices in life try to consider these three things:
1. Think about all of your options in the situation, all of the available choices.
2. Think out or write down the good and bad things that can come from each choice.
3. Hear and heed your inner voice. We all have a sense of right and wrong and your inner voice is what tells you which side you are one.
With these things considered you should be able to come to the decision that is right for you. If you are still undecided, know that there is no harm in asking for advice from someone you know and trust to have your best interest at heart. Talk to your parents, grandparents, a teacher or maybe community leader –
they are good sources of advice.
Please take a moment to think about a choice you’ve made that changed the way you think about yourself, or others. Write and tell me about the choice you made and how it affected your life.
I look forward to hearing from you. And remember…….
Always do you,
