I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and have welcomed the New Year with open hearts and minds.
I loved Skyy’s post last week about New Year’s resolutions. I have given it a lot of thought and have come up with two resolutions for this year.
The first is to always be on time. I know this is something that we are taught to do and we have the best of intentions when it comes to being prompt. However the truth is, things happen, we try to do too much in a short period of time, we misjudge how long it will take us to get somewhere, and on and on. There’s always a “reason”. I had to think about this – if I have committed to something at a certain time I have given my word and someone is depending on that. Someone else is giving their time and making an effort to keep their word as well. Now this could be meeting with friends, going to school or, going to work. The point is we should respect each other’s time and keep our word. Not only does this show people that you are responsible, but it gives you a feeling of self-satisfaction – I did what I said I was going to do.
My second resolution is to quiet myself and listen more. Listen to the people around me, listen to the sounds in nature and listen to my heart. It is my life goal to help others be the best that they can be. In order to do that I have to know who they are, where they are in their life and where they want to be. This requires listening……with my ears and my heart. Listening also helps me become better because this is how I learn, and the more I know, the more I am.
I’d love to hear how you are doing with setting and keeping your resolutions, so please send me your comments.
Have a healthy happy new year, and remember……
Always do you,
