Have you ever met someone that doesn’t know their own self-worth? I mean people that appear to equate their self-value on the validation they receive from others. They can be a kind hearted, sweet, generous person who gives and gives, but never feels as though they have done or given enough, unless someone acknowledges what they have done. They are in need of someone giving them accolades on their accomplishment, by saying “great job”, “you’re the best”, “couldn’t have done it without you”. Let’s face it, we all like hearing these things from others, because it makes us feel appreciated for what we have done.
This is where we must be careful on needing validation from others………..when we allow ourselves to feel worthless if we don’t receive it. We must never get accustomed to being validated by others for who we are. If we do, we might encounter more sad times in life than happy. People get so busy with things that they do forget (unknowingly) to really be appreciative to others.
Remember this……….getting recognized for something you have done is great, but feeling worthless if you don’t is not. Always feel good about who you are and what you’ve accomplished in your own right, don’t look for validation. The most important person to validate you is YOU.
Please write me back and share an experience where you did not receive validation, but still felt fulfilled in what you accomplished.
